Under The Miele Guide Culinary Scholarship Programme, the two scholarships to be awarded for 2011/2012 are each for:- Asian recipient — A citizen or permanent resident of one of the Asian countries evaluated in the Guide with the exception of Singapore.
- Singaporean recipient — A citizen or permanent resident of Singapore.

The Miele – At-Sunrice WSQ Scholarship – Asian recipient
This scholarship is open to applicants, above the age of 18, who are citizens or permanent residents of the Asian countries assessed by The Miele Guide, with the exception of Singapore. The recipient will attend the WSQ Diploma in Culinary Arts (WSQ DCA) course at the At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy. The course will impart basic skills and knowledge of culinary craft and service in Eastern and Western cuisines through theory, practical workshops and immersion in the rich and diverse heritage of the culture of food. The faculty includes experienced chefs and executive chefs who have worked at highly acclaimed establishments internationally, as well as award-winning food authors. As part of the course, the recipient will secure 12 months of professional kitchen experience with an apprenticeship at one production site for the duration of the programme. Recipients who perform outstandingly well will get the chance to work at a prestigious international dining establishment upon graduation.
The scholarship will cover the cost of enrolling into the WSQ DCA course at the At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy. The WSQ DCA course is a 17-month programme which comprises of 5 terms. Combining weekly work and study rotations, the WSQ DCA course includes 2 days of classroom education and 4 days of kitchen apprenticeship per week from Term 2 to Term 5. The scholar will also receive an allowance over the course of his or her apprenticeship.
Selection Process
Phase One:
All applications will be evaluated through a compulsory online talentplus questionnaire that applicants complete in the first round. (* A non-refundable application fee of $107 will be required.)
Phase Two:
Shortlisted applicants will be screened by Administration Committee (made up of representatives from Ate Media, Miele, At-Sunrice and WDA) through a round of interview.
Phase Three:
A final review and endorsement of the candidate chosen for the scholarship by Administration Committee and Admission Board before announcement to successful applicant and the public.
