As Asia’s first truly independent and authoritative guide to the region’s finest restaurants, the 2011/2012 edition of The Miele Guide features 500 restaurants (50 more than the last edition’s list of 450) across 17 Asian countries: Brunei, Cambodia, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Written by expert food lovers who know and love Asia, it is the first guide to measure the region’s best restaurants by Asian palates with global standards.

The Miele Guide 2011/2012 continues to feature the much-anticipated list of Asia’s Top 20 Restaurants, with detailed and informative write-ups on what makes the restaurant tick – its boundary-pushing cuisine, its unbeatable ambience and, at the crux of it all, the chef himself or herself. It also lists the Top 5 restaurants for each country in the guide (with the exception of those countries for which there are too few featured restaurants). Thirdly, each country chapter will feature insider perspectives of the country’s thriving dining scene, written by The Miele Guide’s shortlist panellists, who are top restaurant critics and food journalists in their respective home countries.

Finally, The Miele Guide is proud to unveil the inaugural Chef of Chefs award this year. Chefs of restaurants featured in the 2010/2011 edition of the Guide were invited to cast a vote for a chef peer from the same pool of featured establishments, and the individual who garners the most votes is acknowledged as embodying best the respected and admired qualities of a chef in Asia.
