The aptly named Taste Paradise is a mecca for the well-informed gustatory pilgrims that routinely beat a path to its door. Its menu strikes a careful balance between time-honoured Cantonese favourites and contemporary dishes with more international influences — thankfully, it does both very well. The XO carrot cake — one of their signature dishes — is a splendidly tarted up version
of this old dim sum favourite, and the combination starter of pan-seared foie gras, wasabi mayonnaise prawn and Beijing duck is packed with an unbelievable variety of rich and enticing flavours. Also make room for the double-boiled shark’s fin broth served in a Japanese stone pot accompanied by a bacon onion roll.
